Broadening our Network of Care

Training Volunteer Providers to Expand Access & Support

The CAM™ Mental Health Without Borders Approach™ (CMHWBA) redefines the structure and delivery of behavioral health services by expanding access and creating a more flexible, community-centered model. Rather than focusing solely on traditional individual counseling or group therapy, our approach fosters a therapeutic network that adapts to the evolving needs of the community. From onsite services and programs to CAMPSites™ that are held within our communities, a hallmark of the CMHWBA, is that it brings mental health providers and helpers into spaces that need their expertise and training the most.

By expanding the ways we can offer mental health services, we address challenging barriers to much needed help. Through our CAMPSite™ program we are redesigning the landscape and culture of mental health care.

CAMPSites™ are designed to bridge the gap between traditional care settings and community environments. The CAM™ Mental Health Without Borders Approach™ transforms how mental health services are accessed and delivered. This innovative, ecological care model is intentionally designed to meet individuals where they are, providing the necessary support with compassion and understanding. From emotional or grief support to wellness screenings, substance use resources and screenings, occupational therapy activities, coping strategies, art therapy activities and social justice-informed advocacy, our approach covers a broad spectrum of services that adapt to the unique needs of each individual and community.

Bridging Providers to The People

Help and Healing in Real time

For decades, mental health issues have been steadily increasing across the globe, affecting individuals, families, and communities alike. This growing crisis is compounded by a widening gap in access to trained professionals who are equipped to address the deep unrest and distress that many of us feel in our lives and communities.

As leaders, organizers, advocates, and professionals, it is critical that we understand the importance of mental health not only as an individual concern but as a collective issue that impacts the very fabric of our society.

Learning about mental health is essential for creating inclusive, Healing-Informed Environments™ (HIE) where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. In a world where social justice and equity are at the forefront of necessary change, it is our responsibility to ensure that mental health support is accessible to all, particularly to those who have historically been marginalized or underserved.

It is time for leaders and decision makers in our communities to invest in promoting mental health education, not only to reduce stigma but to ensure that healing, wellness, and justice are accessible to all. Through Trauma-Informed leadership and collective action, we can bridge the gap in mental health care and build communities that support long-term resilience and empowerment for generations to come.

From the Office to the Community

Scaling Access to Mental Health Care

Through bringing Community Activated Medicine Provider Sites™ (CAMPsites™) into community spaces we offer immediate supportive mental health and wellness services for relatives who are Indigenous & underserved victims of violence and Historical Traumas.

By fostering an understanding of mental health and promoting accessible, culturally responsive care, and trauma-informed care we can begin to address the complex effects of trauma and stress that disproportionately affect vulnerable communities.

Our approach is more than a matter of providing care—it's about shifting systems, dismantling barriers, and creating a world where healing is possible for everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Providers as Volunteers

Bringing Your Experience to Community Mental Health

At the heart of our work is fostering relational health and community belonging. Through our CAMPsites™, we integrate mental health interns, providers, and helping professionals to deliver a wide range of services, including teaching coping strategies, proctoring mental health screenings, offering grief support, and sharing resources for substance use and recovery.

Through this innovative model you not only meet the immediate mental health needs of the community but create a space where healing is accessible, inclusive, and valued. We are honored to have our volunteers join us at the forefront of this movement, creating meaningful change and offering hope to those who need it most.

Our CAMPSite™ volunteer program ensures a comprehensive, community-driven approach to delivering mental health care. Through CMHWBA, we aim to create a seamless, flexible network of therapeutic support that meets the dynamic needs of those we serve.

Investing in Healthy Communities

Mobilizing Mental Health Professionals

Together we co-create a Helpers & Healers (H&H) network of volunteer mental health professionals, interns, and community leaders to provide accessible, culturally responsive care in real-time, creating a bridge between service providers and those in need. By establishing CAMPsites™ in local spaces, we mentor and empower both emerging professionals, seasoned providers, and community members to engage in healing practices that address mental health challenges, promote wellness, and foster resilience.

By mobilizing this H&H network, we not only address immediate mental health needs but also build sustainable, long-term support systems that encourage community empowerment, healing, and mental wellness.

Our work represents a paradigm shift in how mental health services are practiced and delivered—emphasizing accessibility, culturally responsiveness, and the collective strength of communities. This model serves as a powerful example of how mentoring and mobilizing local resources can transform mental health care and promote a culture of healing within underserved populations.

Everyone's Role Matters

Beyond the Helping Field

All ages and stages of life, from students to providers across all disciplines, everyone's role in impacting community mental health is critical. In collaboration with first-year MSOE Honors students, together we created a platform that enables us to organize events, share details, and engage with CAMPsite™ volunteers in real time.

The app allows users to easily view upcoming CAMPsites™, sign up to volunteer, and connect with other volunteers. Together we help bridge the gap between accessing mental health providers and those seeking mental health support. With the potential for expansion, the app aims to reach other communities and campuses where mental health awareness and services are urgently needed.

This project highlights the power of innovation and collaboration, showcasing how young professionals can play a key role in driving positive change and improving accessibility to mental health care. We are proud of the progress made and excited about the impact it will have on the communities we serve.

Meet the Moment

Our CAM™ Helpers, Healers, & Provider volunteers are an integral part of our mission, trained extensively by our team to respond to the immediate mental health needs of the community. These dedicated volunteers receive in-depth training in CAM™-Informed Healing Activities, which equip them with the tools to offer effective support and compassionate care. They are taught essential coping strategies, self-regulation techniques, and resource-sharing methods, ensuring they can address the diverse needs of individuals with empathy and expertise.

By empowering our volunteers with knowledge and skills rooted in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices, we ensure that they not only help those in need but also contribute to building a more resilient, connected, and supportive community. Their commitment and hands-on involvement make a lasting impact, creating real-time solutions for those seeking care while fostering healing and hope for the future.

“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” To this day, especially in times of “disaster,”
